Lebanon has concluded its 2022 parliamentary elections as it grapples with an unprecedented economic crisis. This resulted in major changes to the country’s political landscape, with the emergence of new political parties and independents in the wake of the October 17 uprising. While some were not surprised by these new developments, arguing that both turnout and the distribution of seats was well within what was expected, some notable aspects of the election process need to be further examined.  

The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies invites you to attend a virtual symposium to discuss three key aspects of the 2022 parliamentary elections: voter turnout, scale and type of violations, and the performance of the Supervisory Committee for Elections. This webinar is part of a series of election-related events organized by LCPS that address various aspects of the electoral process, such as the electoral law, government oversight and supervision, and the role of the media, among others—all with the aim of enhancing the integrity of elections in Lebanon.

في ظل أزمة اقتصادية غير مسبوقة وبعد تغييرات جذرية لحقت بالمشهد السياسي في لبنان مع بروز أحزاب وقوى سياسية جديدة في أعقاب انتفاضة ١٧ تشرين، أتمَّ لبنان استحقاقاً طال انتظاره بانتخاب مجلس نيابي جديد. وفي حين يرى محللون أن نتائج هذه الانتخابات جاءت في بعض جوانبها لتتوافق مع ما كان متوقعًا إن كان لناحية نسبة الاقتراع الاجمالية أم لناحية توزع المقاعد على القوى السياسية غير أن بعض نتائجها ومجرياتها تستدعي الوقوف عندها وإعطائها نظرة عن كثب. في هذا الإطار يدعوكم المركز اللبناني للدراسات لحضور ندوة افتراضية نناقش خلالها ثلاثة جوانب للانتخابات النيابية لعام 2022 وهي المشاركة في الانتخابات، الانتهاكات التي تم تسجيلها، ودور هيئة الاشراف على الانتخابات. وتأتي هذه الندوة استتباعاً لسلسلة ندوات كنا قد بدأنا بها العام الماضي ونسعى لاستكمالها بهدف الدفع بالإصلاحات على مختلف النواحي المتعلقة بالعملية الانتخابية، كقانون الانتخابات وإدارتها، دور هيئة الإشراف على الانتخابات، ودور الإعلام كما العديد من الجوانب الأخرى وذلك كله بهدف تعزيز نزاهة العملية الانتخابية.
